Using Bluescape’s Situational Intelligence capabilities, key faculty and staff from across 23 HCC campuses collectively planned, executed, and analyzed the outcomes of their efforts in a shared virtual workspace.
In the summer of 2017, Houston Community College (HCC) was preparing for a great fall semester. HCC, which operates 23 satellite campuses, saw a sharp decline in enrollments when Hurricane Harvey started brewing in the Gulf of Mexico on August 23rd. Harvey had directly impacted the school’s ability to hold registration events. What’s more, closed facilities and widely-dispersed faculty made it difficult for the team to meet. If HCC failed to act swiftly, they would lose nearly 2000 currently enrolled students and would miss the opportunity to enroll more. Despite the threat of a natural disaster, HCC still had to prepare for the upcoming semester.
The HCC Emergency Management Leadership team chose Bluescape to manage their response to the hurricane crisis. They needed a platform where they could collect and visualize the critical data and findings that were dispersed across their teams. What’s more, they needed full transparency in the planning, execution, and after-action review (AAR) based on the data collected. Using Bluescape’s Situational Intelligence capabilities, key faculty and staff from across 23 campuses came together during one of the worst natural disasters. They collectively planned, executed, and analyzed the outcomes of their efforts in a shared virtual workspace.
“… [S]omeone I called was grateful that HCC connected with them during one of their most challenging times.”
