The theme of this year’s Enterprise Connect conference was “transformation,” but in many ways it felt like it could have been a “resurgence.” It’s clear that the once stagnant unified communications (UC) industry is back, and in no small part thanks to Slack. This was Slack’s first time at the show and their presence created a noticeable energy and buzz. Slack’s open-API approach underscores how the future of work is less proprietary, and more open.

It’s apparent that the big players and traditional UC vendors are embracing the “open” message. They are shifting away from silos, to delivering a more flexible yet standardized experience for workers that feels natural, like the consumer applications and devices they use every day. We call it the “better together” approach – it’s ultimately all about a seamless and integrated user experience.

Facebook promoted the openness of Workplace, and interestingly, drove home the message by not having their own booth – instead, they showcased their solutions in the BlueJeans booth.

For Bluescape, seeing the industry embrace 3rd-party integrations and focus more on the user experience is great validation of our “better together” approach. Content collaboration – and the ability to create, share and finalize work dynamically, across multiple applications without friction – is integral to solving the many workstream and productivity challenges.

Bluescape and our partners, Yamaha Unified Communications and Avocor, saw keen enthusiasm and excitement around our combined virtual collaboration and communication solution. We showcased our workstream collaboration platform on the new F-6510 interactive displays from Avocor, featuring Yamaha’s CS 700 video sound bar™ conferencing solution.

It’s an exciting time to be in this industry with Bluescape helping to drive this change – innovating the ways workers collaborate and communicate across a single virtual platform while interacting with data from multiple applications on any device, anytime and from anywhere.

We are starting work on integrations with Microsoft, Zoom and Google and moving towards an “open” integrated experience. The traditional “walled gardens” of proprietary systems are shifting to open environments, as companies realize that we really are, better together.
